Boulevard Barbeque was founded in 2019 by Michael Samolinski and Alexander Randall, both of whom originally resided in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Over the course of seventeen combined years of experience in the restaurant and customer service industry, Mike and Alex found their passion – smokin’ and servin’ barbeque. Boulevard Barbeque first opened in February 2020, and its sole location is in Morganton, North Carolina.

At Boulevard Barbeque, we smoke our fresh pork shoulders low and slow for sixteen hours with Hickory wood. All of our original sauces and rubs are made in-house by our very own “smokeologist” with inspiration from North Carolina and Missouri recipes. We offer a selection of vinegar, sweet-vinegar, and spicy-vinegarsauces. A variety of Hickory, Cherry and Pecan wood-smoked meats, traditional barbeque sides and desserts are also prepared at Boulevard Barbeque.

Terry and Debbie Perry own and operate Perry’s Berry’s Vineyard & Winery.  What started as a way to bring our family closer together has grown into a passion to help others experience the same.  Terry spent many summers picking blueberries in the mountains of North Carolina. Debbie’s descends from a farming family.  The Perry’s desire for their four grandchildren to experience the joy of picking blueberries grew into a family business.  In 2013, with the help of family and friends the Perry’s opened their blueberry farm to the public.

a growing Farm

The farm was established in 2009.

The Perry’s have planted over 3500 blueberry bushes.  In addition to offering pick your own blueberries, they supply blueberries to local breweries, grocery stores, bakeries and ice cream shops.  There are several bee hives located throughout the farm for pollination of the berries.  You will also find Scuppernong and Muscadine grapes, as well as pears, apples, plum and cherry trees on the farm.

Perry’s Berry’s Winery  was added in July 2020.   We are excited to offer our Blueberry Wine made with 100% blueberries from our farm.

With over 30 years in the restaurant industry, Aaron has worn every hat possible, from dishwasher to waitstaff to owner of two restaurants. The entire Mathews family have all contributed in some fashion to the day to day operation of the business, and we wouldn’t have it any other way (probably a good thing we like each other, too). We understand and value the importance of small business life, and we appreciate your support as patrons and friends!

Wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, bobcat, coyote, bear, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor. Because we love feeding our growing community, that means we needed a little more elbow space and we made the big decision to move our location to the old Fatz Café right across the street! We’ve dug in deep to clean, remodel, redecorate, and hire (yay for creating jobs!) in order to serve you better with an exciting new menu that includes the same high-quality foods you’ve grown to love! We’re adding steaks, seafood, pasta, and more with a full-service restaurant and bar, as well as lots of fun artwork that reflects what we love most about our community and state.

Expanding means we had to order lots of new equipment, and unfortunately this pandemic caused unexpected delays in delivery. If we’ve learned anything through this, it’s to adjust, adapt, and come up with an alternate plan!

Beginning Tuesday August 25th, J. Hartman’s Restaurant will open under the same concept as Holly’s Deli with the same menu, but at our new location. Initially our hours will be: Monday – Saturday 10:30am-4:00pm. The best part is we have much more space for customers to stay healthy and socially distance, while still enjoying a yummy lunch menu! Come check out our new space and enjoy lunch, a cold drink from the bar, and get a sneak peek of our full-service menu that we anticipate to offer in the very near future!

One of those places that stand apart from the ordinary, Mount Mitchell’s dramatic summit is the highest point east of the Mississippi at 6,684 feet and was inspiration for one of the nation’s first state parks. From its easily accessible observation deck, the spruce-fir forest of Mount Mitchell State Park leads the eye to unmatched views. A museum explains the mountain’s cultural and natural history, and its trail network allows visitors to explore up close, offering short hikes near the summit and challenging treks leading to adjacent wilderness areas. A nine-site tent campground is open in warm-weather months, and backpacking opportunities abound, including entry onto the Mountains-to-Sea State Trail. A concession area and a full-service restaurant serve visitors from May to October.

Located in Yancey County 30 miles northeast of Asheville, Mount Mitchell State Park was the genesis of North Carolina’s state parks system. At 6,684 feet, the mountain is the highest point east of the Mississippi River, and an observation deck provides breathtaking mountain views on a clear day. Easy trails at the summit explore the Fraser fir forest, while a vast network of challenging trails — including the Mountains-to-Sea State Trail — extend into adjacent wilderness areas and lead to backpacking opportunities within Pisgah National Forest.
