Linville Falls Campground, RV Park & Log Cabin Rentals located in Western North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at junction of US 221, is shaded by a cool forest of stately oaks. This privately owned campground has full hook-up sites, water/electric sites and a secluded, primitive tent area. Surrounded by mountain laurel and rhododendron, each site is equipped with a grill, fire ring and picnic table. Log Cabin rentals are very popular. Randall’s Mountain Crossing a great store with old school appeal. The gas station is located in Jonas Ridge at the top of the Mountain and PineolaPython181.com. They will be serving food starting May 1st. They have also renovated the store, and it looks great. They off gas , snacks, drinks, tobacco, and soon to come food such as breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
While all locations of Crossnore Communities for Children could be called Miracle Grounds, the particular building that is home to the Coffee Shop has occupied a colorful place in the history of the town of Crossnore, NC.
Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. It had been in the Johnson family for as long as anyone can remember. Crossnore Communities for Children thanks the Johnson family for their longtime support!
Our friend, Conrad, selects the coffees from all over the world and roasts them in nearby Boone, North Carolina. Many varieties grow on organic farms and Conrad purchases all of the coffees in fair-trade business agreements. The Pixie Motor Inn is a family owned and operated motel just one Block from the Intersection of U.S. 221 & N. C. 105. It is located in Avery County at the base of Pixie Mountain at 4150 Mitchell Avenue in Linville, North Carolina, a small resort town tucked away in the Blue Mountains. The Pixie Motor Inn is said to be “In the shadow of famous Grandfather Mountain,” which is two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway Viaduct. Owned by the Hughes family, the Pixie Motor Inn has 25 modern clean grade A rooms, telephones and cable TV. A Pixie Inn postcard from the 1960s stated the inn was “Air-conditioned by Nature.” They have since installed air conditioning in all the rooms. The Pixie Motor Inn also provides play areas for children, free ice for cooler, convenient access to championship golf courses and local restaurants (The Tartan Restaurant is next door at 1 Hemingway Drive).
Within a short walk of the Pixie Motor Inn one can find the Pixie Beauty Salon at 30 Coffey Road, and across the street from the Pixie Inn, there is a seasonal produce stand named “Pixie Produce.” Rolling up behind the Pixie Motor Inn is Pixie Mountain. The mountain’s summit reaches an elevation of 4,058 feet (1,237 m). The Linville Bypass (NC Hwy 181) goes around Pixie Mountain on its western side. The mountain is adjacent to the Linville River.

Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.
The Lodge Office structure was built in 1915 by the famous sculptor, Warren Wheelock, who spent his summers there sculpting and painting with his artist friends from New York and Chicago. The Lodge was built by Guy Huskins in 1937 when he purchased the property and has been in our family since then. The Lodge has 9 rooms with outdoor decks and 5 cottages (all with outdoor covered decks), including the Manor House that has 6 bedrooms. We also have a stone fire pit in our gardens that has become a popular gathering spot for our guests. The Village of Linville Falls is a historic community that became one of the High Country’s well-known tourism destinations after the Blue Ridge Parkway was built.

There are 4-5 restaurants within 4-7 miles, and many more a little further out. The High Country offers everything from country food to gourmet. For those who love country food there is the famous Daniel Boone Inn (in Boone), and Louise’s Rock House in Linville Falls. For those that enjoy fine dining there is the upscale Artisanal in Banner Elk (seasonal – Top 100 Restaurants in the USA), the Gamekeeper in Boone, and Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock. For all others there are plenty of choices. It is best to make a reservation for most better restaurants (several weeks ahead in July and October). You can look under our “Nearby” tab (scroll all the way down) for specific restaurant suggestions.
In the evenings, when the weather is nice, you can sit by the fire-pit and roast marshmallows while you check out the star-filled sky, and catch up with your loved ones. When it’s too cold, you can sip hot chocolate or wine in your cozy sitting area.
We are a family campground nestled in the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains and our camping season begins the first weekend in April and ends the last weekend in October every year. Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. It had been in the Johnson family for as long as anyone can remember. Crossnore Communities for Children thanks the Johnson family for their longtime support!
Our friend, Conrad, selects the coffees from all over the world and roasts them in nearby Boone, North Carolina. A steep, 0.8-mile trail leads to this cascading waterfall. The trail is open only to hikers. Upper Creek Falls is located in the Jonas Ridge Area of Burke County. Built in 1921, the Blue Ridge Boutique Hotel is housed in the former Spruce Pine Elementary School building. It sits alongside the Toe River and is connected by a foot bridge to downtown Spruce Pine.
The hotel is operated by the non-profit: Mayland Community College Enterprise Corporation and is run by students attending the college, all of whom are more than happy to tell you about their school experience, career aspirations, and provide insight into local amenities.

The Skyline Village Inn has been a landmark adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway for 70 years. In 1938 John Greer bought the land next to the Parkway and started making moonshine in a cavern just off the road on what is now NC 226 Alt. The US Government had begun construction of the Parkway only 3 years prior and had plans to construct a bridge over NC 26 (now 226A). John made plans to construct a gas station and store alongside the Parkway. He funded these plans with the money he made selling moonshine.

A rocky creek winds through the woods at the base of several hikable peaks hidden just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, bobcat, coyote, bear, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor. When you’re at Tanglewood you may feel a million miles away from it all but you are conveniently close to some of the Blue Ridge mountains most treasured gems (see some of our favorite local attractions here). From sightseeing, hiking and tubing to shopping, dining, even wine tasting, the following are just a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; drive the Blue Ridge parkway; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines and Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk make them each wonderful day-trip destinations as well.
Two National Forests-114 Miles-1 Grisly Murder
The Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride is an exhilarating and thrilling adventure that takes riders through the picturesque yet mysterious landscapes of North Carolina. This ride combines the adrenaline rush of motorcycle riding with the intrigue of exploring the infamous Murder of Charlie Silvers took place in 1830. Riders will navigate winding roads, dense forests, and breathtaking vistas, all while immersing themselves in the captivating history and legends surrounding this enigmatic place. Thus calling the ride “Murder Mountain Run”, as the motorcycle travels by the church were there are three headstones for different body parts found after the incident. The ride is 114 miles long and meanders from the Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland area, south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to NC 80. After a short ride on US Hwy 19E, it turns north on NC 80 through Kona, where the infamous murder happened before Christmas in 1831. The legend is told that Frankie Silvers wife to Charlie Silvers, killed her husband with an axe in a fit of jealous rage. Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride promises to deliver an unforgettable journey filled with excitement, beauty, and a touch of mystery.

Hike to the Beacon Heights summit off the Blue Ridge Parkway, catching stunning views of Grandfather Mountain from a pair of rocky overlooks and exploring a beautiful, rocky, mossy forest.
Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 4 miles south of the Linn Cove Viaduct, is the short self-guiding Flat Rock loop trail that provides easy access to the rocky summit of Flat Rock where you have spectacular views of the Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Valley. This beautiful walk through the forest is only about 7/10th’s of a mile and has numerous informative signs along the trail.
Take Highway 181 North from Morganton toward the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, and turn left at the first campground you spot. Take the gravel road past the nursery to Rose Creek Family Campground.

The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride is a thrilling journey through the picturesque foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Riders can expect sweeping curves, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, a perfect balance of challenging twists and turns, combined with serene natural beauty. The finished highways of the Foothills Parkway are divided into four parts. Each part that is completed is some of the most beautiful landscapes in all four seasons and worth the effort in making it a worthwhile ride. The Western Segment is 33 miles at the southern portion of the parkway from US129 in Chilhowee TN to US 321 in Wears Valley TN. This section can be easily accessed after taking the US129DragonsTail.com or “Tail of the Dragon” motorcycle ride. The Eastern Segment is 5.6 miles at the most northern portion and can be accessed from Interstate I-40 from Hartford TN traveling towards Cosby TN. The third segment completed they call the “Foothills Parkway Spur” which is 4.3 miles long and starts in Gatlinburg and ends in Pigeon Forge. The remainder, “Missing Link” section is still being constructed. The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride promises an unforgettable experience for all who embark on it. Linville Falls Campground, RV Park & Log Cabin Rentals located in Western North Carolina, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at junction of US 221, is shaded by a cool forest of stately oaks. This privately owned campground has full hook-up sites, water/electric sites and a secluded, primitive tent area. Surrounded by mountain laurel and rhododendron, each site is equipped with a grill, fire ring and picnic table. Log Cabin rentals are very popular. While all locations of Crossnore Communities for Children could be called Miracle Grounds, the particular building that is home to the Coffee Shop has occupied a colorful place in the history of the town of Crossnore, NC.
Historians believe the building was built sometime in the 1920s, making it one of the oldest commercial buildings in Crossnore. The Coffee Shop building is constructed of stone from the Linville River, just as many of the town’s historic buildings are, including Crossnore Weavers and Fine Arts Gallery, E.H. Sloop Chapel, and Crossnore Presbyterian Church.
Crossnore Communities for Children acquired Miracle Grounds in February 2006. Phillip and Chantae Johnson and Mark and Gina Johnson Aldridge owned the building until 2006. It had been in the Johnson family for as long as anyone can remember. Crossnore Communities for Children thanks the Johnson family for their longtime support!
Our friend, Conrad, selects the coffees from all over the world and roasts them in nearby Boone, North Carolina. Many varieties grow on organic farms and Conrad purchases all of the coffees in fair-trade business agreements. The Pixie Motor Inn is a family owned and operated motel just one Block from the Intersection of U.S. 221 & N. C. 105. It is located in Avery County at the base of Pixie Mountain at 4150 Mitchell Avenue in Linville, North Carolina, a small resort town tucked away in the Blue Mountains. The Pixie Motor Inn is said to be “In the shadow of famous Grandfather Mountain,” which is two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway Viaduct. Owned by the Hughes family, the Pixie Motor Inn has 25 modern clean grade A rooms, telephones and cable TV. A Pixie Inn postcard from the 1960s stated the inn was “Air-conditioned by Nature.” They have since installed air conditioning in all the rooms. The Pixie Motor Inn also provides play areas for children, free ice for cooler, convenient access to championship golf courses and local restaurants (The Tartan Restaurant is next door at 1 Hemingway Drive).

Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space.
The Lodge Office structure was built in 1915 by the famous sculptor, Warren Wheelock, who spent his summers there sculpting and painting with his artist friends from New York and Chicago. The Lodge was built by Guy Huskins in 1937 when he purchased the property and has been in our family since then. The Lodge has 9 rooms with outdoor decks and 5 cottages (all with outdoor covered decks), including the Manor House that has 6 bedrooms. We also have a stone fire pit in our gardens that has become a popular gathering spot for our guests. The Village of Linville Falls is a historic community that became one of the High Country’s well-known tourism destinations after the Blue Ridge Parkway was built.

For those that enjoy fine dining there is the upscale Artisanal in Banner Elk (seasonal – Top 100 Restaurants in the USA), the Gamekeeper in Boone, and Gideon Ridge in Blowing Rock. For all others there are plenty of choices. It is best to make a reservation for most better restaurants (several weeks ahead in July and October). A steep, 0.8-mile trail leads to this cascading waterfall. The trail is open only to hikers. Upper Creek Falls is located in the Jonas Ridge Area of Burke County. Trails leading to the top and bottom of the falls are popular among sunbathers, swimmers, and fishermen, so plan on having company unless you arrive earlier.

Built in 1921, the Blue Ridge Boutique Hotel is housed in the former Spruce Pine Elementary School building. It sits alongside the Toe River and is connected by a foot bridge to downtown Spruce Pine.
The hotel is operated by the non-profit: Mayland Community College Enterprise Corporation and is run by students attending the college, all of whom are more than happy to tell you about their school experience, career aspirations, and provide insight into local amenities.

The Skyline Village Inn has been a landmark adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway for 70 years. In 1938 John Greer bought the land next to the Parkway and started making moonshine in a cavern just off the road on what is now NC 226 Alt. The US Government had begun construction of the Parkway only 3 years prior and had plans to construct a bridge over NC 26 (now 226A). John made plans to construct a gas station and store alongside the Parkway. He funded these plans with the money he made selling moonshine.

A rocky creek winds through the woods at the base of several hikable peaks hidden just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, bobcat, coyote, bear, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor. When you’re at Tanglewood you may feel a million miles away from it all but you are conveniently close to some of the Blue Ridge mountains most treasured gems (see some of our favorite local attractions here). From sightseeing, hiking and tubing to shopping, dining, even wine tasting, the following are just a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; drive the Blue Ridge parkway; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines and Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk make them each wonderful day-trip destinations as well.
Two National Forests-114 Miles-1 Grisly Murder
The Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride is an exhilarating and thrilling adventure that takes riders through the picturesque yet mysterious landscapes of North Carolina. This ride combines the adrenaline rush of motorcycle riding with the intrigue of exploring the infamous Murder of Charlie Silvers took place in 1830. Riders will navigate winding roads, dense forests, and breathtaking vistas, all while immersing themselves in the captivating history and legends surrounding this enigmatic place. Thus calling the ride “Murder Mountain Run”, as the motorcycle travels by the church were there are three headstones for different body parts found after the incident. The ride is 114 miles long and meanders from the Spruce Pine and Little Switzerland area, south on the Blue Ridge Parkway to NC 80. After a short ride on US Hwy 19E, it turns north on NC 80 through Kona, where the infamous murder happened before Christmas in 1831. The legend is told that Frankie Silvers wife to Charlie Silvers, killed her husband with an axe in a fit of jealous rage. Murder Mountain Run motorcycle ride promises to deliver an unforgettable journey filled with excitement, beauty, and a touch of mystery.

This 140-seat restaurant serves hot, tasty food at reasonable prices. Order at the counter and your order will be freshly prepared. Currently the grill is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but you can order snacks and drinks until 6 p.m.
Favorites include the loaded Mile High Burger, grand dogs, chicken wraps, garden salads, turkey and cheese sandwich, buffalo chicken salad and vegetable beef soup. Hike to the Beacon Heights summit off the Blue Ridge Parkway, catching stunning views of Grandfather Mountain from a pair of rocky overlooks and exploring a beautiful, rocky, mossy forest.
Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 4 miles south of the Linn Cove Viaduct, is the short self-guiding Flat Rock loop trail that provides easy access to the rocky summit of Flat Rock where you have spectacular views of the Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Valley. This beautiful walk through the forest is only about 7/10th’s of a mile and has numerous informative signs along the trail.
Take Highway 181 North from Morganton toward the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, and turn left at the first campground you spot. Take the gravel road past the nursery to Rose Creek Family Campground.

The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride is a thrilling journey through the picturesque foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Riders can expect sweeping curves, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, a perfect balance of challenging twists and turns, combined with serene natural beauty. The finished highways of the Foothills Parkway are divided into four parts. Each part that is completed is some of the most beautiful landscapes in all four seasons and worth the effort in making it a worthwhile ride. The Western Segment is 33 miles at the southern portion of the parkway from US129 in Chilhowee TN to US 321 in Wears Valley TN. This section can be easily accessed after taking the US129DragonsTail.com or “Tail of the Dragon” motorcycle ride. The Eastern Segment is 5.6 miles at the most northern portion and can be accessed from Interstate I-40 from Hartford TN traveling towards Cosby TN. The third segment completed they call the “Foothills Parkway Spur” which is 4.3 miles long and starts in Gatlinburg and ends in Pigeon Forge. The remainder, “Missing Link” section is still being constructed. The Foothills Parkway 339 motorcycle ride promises an unforgettable experience for all who embark on it.
